Today we are excited to offer for sale a wonderful antique set of late 19th /early 20th centuty chromolith Halloween masks! Chromolithography is a unique method for making multi-colour prints. This type of color printing stemmed from the process of lithography, and includes all types of lithography that are printed in color. When chromolithography is used to reproduce photographs, the term photochrome is frequently used. Lithographers sought to find a way to print on flat surfaces with the use of chemicals instead of raised relief or recessed intaglio techniques. This set includes five complete masks, and one bag with fragments of an unidentified mask. The general size of the masks is 12″x10″. The masks depict a bearded cossack, Uncle Sam, mail man, aviator, and clown. The masks are in fair antique condition, with minor losses, tears, and toning commensurate with age and type of use. Lot sold as-is. This awesome and unique set will make great Halloween decorations and will add vintage spookiness to any interior! Fresh to the market!
