Today we are very happy to offer for sale a truly beautiful original antique bronze figural group by Jules Moigniez! This exquisite piece is the epitome of fine French craftsmanship! This guaranteed antique and is NOT a later reproduction. Jules Moigniez (1835 – 1894) was a French animalier sculptor who worked during the 19th century. His output was primarily cast in bronze and he frequently exhibited his sculptures at the Paris Salon. He was best known for his bronzes depicting birds, which were among the finest ever created in his time. Moigniez’s bird sculptures often incorporated highly detailed bases complete with bushes, extensive foliage and undergrowth. His castings were generally of excellent quality with a variety of patinas, the gilded and silvered patinas being the most desirable and sought after by collectors. This exceptional figural group depicts two small game birds (possibly Grouses) eagerly feeding on seeds and vegetation. The birds both display movement and emotion and high level of detailing. The feathers and feet are of special notice. The landscape and vegetation are also exquisitely detailed. Overall a most realistic bronze piece. The piece is signed “J. Moigniez” on the lower right front corner, and mounted on a gilt bronze base. The statuette presents beautifully and is in very good antique condition, with very minor shelf wear and patina from being on display. This beautiful figural group will make a wonderful addition to any fine animalier bronze collection, and will add warmth and worldliness to any room in your home or business. Fresh to the market…A special find for a special buyer!
