Today we are thrilled to be offering for sale an original 1975 movie theater poster for one of the most iconic thriller/horror movies in the world: JAWS! Jaws is a 1975 American thriller film directed by Steven Spielberg and based on Peter Benchley’s 1974 novel of the same name. In the story, a giant man-eating great white shark attacks beach goers on Amity Island, a fictional New England summer resort town, prompting the local police chief to hunt it with the help of a marine biologist and a professional shark hunter. The film stars Roy Scheider as police chief Martin Brody, Robert Shawas shark hunter Quint, Richard Dreyfuss as oceanographer Matt Hooper, Murray Hamilton as Larry Vaughn, Mayor of Amity Island, and Lorraine Gary as Brody’s wife, Ellen. With the fish story to end all fish stories, Steven Spielberg was capitulated to the top rank of film makers in 1975 and Bruce the Shark became an instant cultural icon. This beautiful one sheet poster features the classic image of the massive great-white shark about to strike the hapless midnight swimmer in the film’s opening sequence. The artwork is by Mick McGinty. This litho poster was printed in 1975. Marked on the bottom “Copyright 1975 by Universal Pictures Country of Origin U.S.A./ Graphic Arts International Official Union Label GAU/ Jaws”. The poster presents very well and is in very good vintage condition, with very minimal wear from being properly stored. There is one small tear of the white border at the top left of the center fold; there is very light abrasion to the corners of the folds. No fading or discoloration. Will frame up beautifully. This is truly a wonderful opportunity to own one of the rarest and most iconic movie posters out there. This all original first edition won’t last!
