Today we are delighted to offer for sale a gorgeous vintage Italian Mid Century 1950’s Ristori Renato 800 silver compact case! This wonderfully colorful and expertly and intricately crafted piece dates to the 1950’s and was created by highly-praised and sought-after silversmith Ristori Renato of Firenze, Italy. This rococo-style compact box features ornate detailing in an 800 silver case with lovely golden patina, with hand-painted faux malachite accents framing an 18th century Francois Boucher-inspired center hand-painted enameled scene. The lovely and bucolic scene depicts a buxom shepherdess nursing a golden-haired baby while her older child clings to her side; her shephard husband is bringing her a baby calf, and a large chateau is visible in the background. The interior of the compact features a hand-cut and beveled mirror; the fabric mesh powder insert is in like-new, unused condition. The compact is hallmark with “800” and the maker’s mark. In very good vintage condition, with very minimal wear from being on display but appears to never have been used. This gorgeous piece will look just darling on a lovely and elegant dressing table, and will make a wonderful addition to any fine compact collection out there. Precious and delicate, this little treasure is a piece not to be missed!
