Today we are happy to offer for sale an authentic and all-original 1930’s art deco enameled metal sign! This iconic-looking sign was created for the Burger Stumpen cigarette company of Switzerland in the early 1930’s. The company was famous for its’ square cigarettes. The sign, expertly manufactured of enameled sheet metal, was made by the Blechwaren Fabrik of Limburg, Germany (a company founded in 1872 and still in business!). The sign depicts a dapper gentleman wearing a fedora hat and carrying a cane while smoking a Burger cigarette. The Burger cigarette and logo are transposed over the image of the gentleman, with an intense red black-bordered background. This advertisement sign was no doubt used in restaurants, bar, and drug stores in the 1930’s. The sign presents very well and is in good antique condition, with minor wear/oxidation and patina commensurate with age and type of use. The sign is slightly warped along the edges. This is a great opportunity to own a rare and hard-to-find sign from the obscure and highly sought-after Burger Stumpen cigarette company. This sign will make an outstanding addition to any fine ad sign collection. Fresh to the market!
