Description

Here we have a rare and coveted c.1800’s copper tea kettle made by John Kidd, a noteworthy coppersmith working 1796-1800 in Reading, Pennsylvania. It features an elegant riveted gooseneck handle, and dovetailed brass seams. The only markings on this item can be found on the top of the handle, and read “J.Kidd.” This beautiful teapot will look great in any kitchen collection.
Item is in very good antique condition, complete with its matching lid which is rare to find with a pot this age! Copper is in good condition, with a good shine throughout, with the addition of some patina that adds great character. Item does show numerous dents, dings and distortions consistent with normal use along with some minor surface abrasions throughout, and some oxidation on the inside of the pot, again consistent with age. The tip of the spout has a small portion that has broken off, and a very minor cracking can be seen on the underside of the pot, along one of the dovetailed sections.
