19th Century Ming Style Black Elm Wood Yoki Taishi Arm Chair

Today we are selling a wonderful vintage Chinese Ming dynasty-style black lacquer wood armchair. This piece is in the “Tai Shi” stye. The kind of chairs were called Tai Shi chairs because they were luxury items and only used by powerful and rich people in the old time. This armchair is finely crafted of wood lacquered a deep shade of black. The seat features honey-colored caning. The chair is in very good vintage condition, with minor wear and patina that comes with age and use. There is light craquelure around the joints of arms, stretchers, and back. There are a few very light (and hardly noticeable) nicks/scuffs.
