RIAM POLICIES

BAD CHECKS

A $35 fee will be charged for bad checks and, depending on the circumstances, patron may forfeit the privilege to use checks again in the future.

CHILDREN AND PETS

Children are welcome but must be kept under constant parental supervision and parents must accept full responsibility for any damage caused by their children. Smaller pets are also welcome provided they are hand-carried and do not cause a nuisance with other pets or disturb our patrons. Larger pets must be kept outside the store. We will gladly provide fresh water and snacks for them. Owners assume full responsibility for any damage caused by their pets and must clean up after them.

CARRY-IN ITEMS

For your convenience, and to minimize breakage and theft, we require that all large handbags, shopping bags, suitcases, backpacks, diaper bags, duffle bags, packages, bulky coats and other such items be stored at the front desk or left in your car while you shop.

DELIVERIES AND SHIPPING

RIAM offers professional local pickups and deliveries at reasonable cost.  See the “Deliveries” section under the “Services” tab of this website for further details.  For items going further than a 50 mile locus of the shop, RIAM will, for a fee, pack and ship most items worldwide. Shipping insurance is at buyer’s expense and is required. RIAM assumes no responsibility for loss or damage when shipped by an outside carrier.

LAYAWAYS

All items are available for layaway. A 25% non-refundable deposit is required. Items must be paid in full and removed from the store within 30 days to avoid loss of deposit.

OFFERS/NEGOTIATED PRICES

All items under $100 are sold at the ticket price unless the individual dealer is offering a sale price at the time of purchase.  Under certain circumstances, RIAM will present reasonable offers of over $100 to their respective sellers.  In the case of all negotiated prices, payment by cash or check is expected.  When a credit card is used for negotiated price items, a 3.5% processing fee is charged.

RETURN POLICY

RIAM stands behind the authenticity of our offerings and the accuracy and completeness of our descriptions. Please consider all information on tags and inspect merchandise carefully when in the shop, or review all photos and copy carefully when shopping online. Because minor imperfections from age and normal use are common with antique items, and “part swapping” or damage resulting from handling, cleaning, or attempted repairs is not uncommon, ALL SALES ARE CONSIDERED FINAL unless verifiable proof of significant misrepresentation is provided by the buyer. Under certain circumstances, some RIAM sellers will consider return requests for reasons including “didn’t fit” or “just didn’t like it”, however the decision to accept a return is entirely at each RIAM seller’s discretion. Depending on circumstances, authorized returns may require a restocking fee of up to 18% and in any case must come back exactly as sold. It is best to inquire about possible return options for any particular item before making your purchase.

SALES TO DEALERS

Dealers who present a copy of their valid resale certificate at the time of purchase will be entitled to any applicable dealer discounts and sales tax exemptions upon completion of a State of RI resale form.   A copy of your certificate will be kept on file and must be renewed annually.  Unfortunately we cannot offer discounts and/or tax exemptions without a physical copy of your certificate. Simply providing us with your number will not suffice.  Under no circumstance will non-U.S. resale certificates be honored.

STORAGE OF PURCHASED ITEMS

Purchased items that have been paid in full may be stored for up to 1 week at no charge. Longer term storage will be charged at $2/sq. ft. per week or fraction therof.
